What Programs Can I Use for Data Recovery?

There are literally hundreds of different data recovery programs that have been designed and developed for various different ways to get back your lost data. There are many programs specifically developed to recover items that have been accidentally deleted, before and after a hard drive reformat. There are programs specifically designed to recover only email files, photos, or word documents. There are also programs available to recover data if the hard drive is corrupted or has bad sectors.

One of the programs you can use for data recovery is File Scavenger. It can be downloaded directly from the internet, comes with a free trial and is moderately priced at less than $50.00 for the full version. It features three different search modes, a quick mode for recently deleted files, a more in depth mode for files that are hard to find, and a defunct volume search. The user interface for this data recovery program is very self explanatory and simple enough that a first time user will not have any problems with it at all. One of the most unique features of this program is its ability to recover data from RAID (redundant array of independent disks) drives.

Another program and a free one as well is PC Inspector. This program can be downloaded from the internet, supports the recovery of FAT32 and FAT16 files. A few drawbacks of this data recovery program is that it is not currently compatible with the Windows Vista operating system, and although they offer free phone support, you are calling Germany and the long distance charges can add up quickly. Another thing to note is that the user interface is a bit difficult for a first time user.

Get Data Back is another program you can use for data recovery. There are many different versions of this program available depending upon the operating system and file system your computer is using. The price for this can be a bit high, and the user interface is a bit difficult as there are many more steps involved in getting your files back using this particular program.

No matter what program you choose for data recovery, keeping a back up of all important files can prevent you from ever having to choose any of these programs.
