How to Write a Book Report
As you begin to close your book, you look up and notice the look on your teacher’s face. Next, you hear those dreaded words, “Book Report.” No need to panic, with a few basic rules and a simple outline, you will be well on your way to a successful book report. I will give you must have items for a book report and a few tips to help you complete a book report on any subject.
Title
When writing your title make sure all key words are in capital letters and then underline the title.
Introduction
When introducing the book provide key elements of your books subject. Ask key questions like how, what, when and where. Describe details in an overview format. Describe what you will be discussing in each of your following paragraphs.
Analyze and Evaluate
When writing your body paragraphs, write in detail format. Answer the questions how, what, when and where. Each paragraph should pertain to one subject. Use different paragraphs to discuss each subject or topic provided in the book. In each paragraph, you will need to analyze and evaluate all main topics of your book, providing the reader with information that will encourage them to read the book. You can provide a personal opinion, but always back it up with facts provided in your book. Make your book report fun and interesting to read, you do not have to rewrite the book, just provide main details in each paragraph. Provide enough information to the reader, allowing them to relive the most important points in the book.
Conclusion
Your conclusion will recap the introduction and each subsequent paragraph. Provide a final overview and your personal likes and dislikes of the book. Give the reader an informative overview of the book, with a pizzazz conclusion.
Signature and Book Details
You may want to sign your book report. Then provide how many pages in the book. It is good to tell the reader where to get the book, so they can enjoy reading it too.
Book reports are not hard to write if you follow these basic steps. Make an outline of the topics you wish to discuss, and then simply provide accurate detailed information in each descriptive paragraph. You should provide humor and key items that will keep your reader interested in the book report. You can also provide the pros and cons of a book; this allows the reader to determine if they are interested in reading this book.
