How to Wash Hair Without Water
Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you were having a bad hair day, and there wasn’t any running water available? If you’re a rugged camper and you enjoy roughing it, perhaps you would just hide your hair in a hat or bandana, but what if you had a Madonna complex, and until you looked like a movie star, you refused to leave your camper? Ok all you movie star wannabe’s, here’s what you’re looking for.
There are many products that can be used to dry shampoo your hair that you probably keep in your cupboards anyway, and will cost only pennies to use as a shampoo. Here are just three:
Baby Powder
Nothing smells better than a baby, after sprinkling baby powder on their bottom. Lightly sprinkle the baby powder on your scalp, and then shake your hair out a bit, to allow the powder to shift to the ends of your hair. Then, using either your hands or a brush, begin fluffing your hair, until all the traces of powder are gone. Not only will your hair look soft and shiny, but you’ll smell fresh and clean too.
Quaker Oats
Nothing says ‘Mom’ better than a hot bowl of oatmeal in the morning. Oats are a common staple in most homes, so this is convenient to use, as well as cheap. Simply take a handful of oats, and place them on top of your head. Using your fingers, begin to work the oats into your scalp, working down to the ends of your hair. You may have to shake your hair until all the oats are removed. The oats will absorb the grease in your hair.
Baking Soda
And you thought baking soda was just for sitting in the back of the fridge! There are many uses for baking soda, not to mention cooking and baking. If your hair needs a cleaning and you don’t have time to wash it, simply put a handful of baking soda on your scalp, and lightly rub it in. Then shake your hair to allow the baking soda to cover the length of your hair.
So the next time you need to look ‘lovely, dahling’ and you don’t have time or running water, simply use some common household products like baby powder, oats or baking soda, and you’ll be beautiful in no time!
