How to Remove Eyeliner

No one wants to wake up with the dreaded raccoon eyes that sleeping in eyeliner causes. Scrubbing just causes red, irritated eyes. Waterproof eyeliner can just strengthen the dilemma. Scrub too hard and it hurts, not scrub enough and there are smudges all over your face. Yet there are several easy ways to remove eyeliner that avoids these hazards.

When removing your makeup, wash your face as usual, making sure to leave the eye area damp. Skip the specialty eyeliner removers. Baby shampoo is inexpensive and won’t irritate your eyes or skin. Dampen a cotton ball or makeup pad and add a small dab of the shampoo. Squeeze it to get some suds and wipe it carefully over your closed eyelids a couple of times. Wipe in one direction, you don’t want to Scrub! Rinse the soap off with cold water and pat gently pat dry.

If you are just touching up a smear or mistake, eyeliner removers are your best bet. You will need a
a bottle of remover and a cotton swab. When removing eyeliner smudges, you will need to be careful not to get remover on any other makeup you are wearing, as it will remove it too. Dip the cotton swab in the remover until it is soaked through, then carefully wipe it across the smudge. You may need to repeat a couple of times. Wait a few minutes for the remover to evaporate from your skin before reapplying.

If you would like to avoid chemicals and soaps, petroleum jelly is a well known eyeliner remover. Not just petroleum jelly, anything greasy will work. Examples are cold cream, olive oil, or lotion. You will have to be careful if you opt for lotion, as it will irritate your eyes if you get it in them. Dip a makeup pad into the petroleum jelly and wipe it over your eyes. Then, take an unused pad and wipe the residue off. Instant eyeliner removal! If you have oily skin, this method may cause breakouts, so use with caution.

Eyeliner accentuates our eyes and helps us look energetic. If you leave it on too long or leave some behind when you wash your face, it will make you look tired and messy. By removing eyeliner properly, you will be leaving your face fresh looking and ensuring your next application will go on smoothly with little chance for errors.
